Hong Kong Study Tour 2026

Human Resilience, Integrative Practice, and a Week of Learning With Peers

27–30 May 2026 | Hong Kong Shue Yan University | Hong Kong

Join us in Hong Kong for a practical, professionally energising study tour built around two connected learning experiences:

  1. International Conference on Human Resilience: Navigating Life Changes & Challenges [more here]

  2. Pre-Conference Workshop: Integrative Pathways — Designing Dual Coaching–Counselling Frameworks for Broader Client Support [more here]

This is not a rigid tour bus experience. It is a pay-as-you-go delegate model designed for practitioners who want flexibility, substance, collegiality and a chance to learn in an international setting without needing everything wrapped into one expensive package.

You choose your flights, your hotel, and your level of social add-ons. We provide the structure, the learning pathway, the peer connection, and the practical guidance that makes the week easy to join.

Why This Study Tour Works

Because professional growth is rarely just about sitting in a room and taking notes.

This Hong Kong experience is designed for people who want to:

  • attend a strong international conference with a clear resilience theme

  • deepen applied skills through a focused pre-conference workshop

  • build peer relationships across coaching, counselling and mental health practice

  • access informal reflection, supervision-style conversation and shared meaning-making

  • travel in a way that feels adult, flexible and manageable

It is learning, yes. But it is also renewal, perspective, collegial support and the kind of professional development that often lands more deeply because you have stepped outside your everyday environment.

Accommodation Ideas

The conference organisers have published several accommodation options in the North Point / Fortress Hill / Quarry Bay area, which is the easiest base for getting to Hong Kong Shue Yan University.

Premium Stay: For those wanting a bit of luxury and sense of escape...

Hyatt Centric Victoria Harbour Hong Kong
A strong option for delegates wanting a more polished full-service stay.

Harbour Grand Hong Kong
Suited to delegates who want a 5-star base and are happy to stay in the North Point / Fortress Hill area.

The Langham

A daily commute to the conference venue, but a grand hotel in the buzz of Hong Kong Tsim Sha Tsui.

Mid-range Comfort: Darn good, but a little cheaper!

Shama Island North
Good for delegates who prefer a more practical, longer-stay feel in apartment style accommodation.

Harbour Plaza North Point
A comfortable mid-range option with straightforward MTR access.

Holiday Inn Golden Mile

A little away from the conference venue, but a diamond in the shopping buzz of Nathan Road.

Budget-Conscious Options: Still clean, comfortable and indulgent, just a little more affordable in this cost of living days...

ibis Hong Kong North Point
A practical choice for delegates who want to keep accommodation costs lean while staying well connected.

The Mercury
A useful smaller-hotel alternative in the same general zone.

Our advice on where to stay...

  • If your priority is ease, stay on Hong Kong Island near North Point, Fortress Hill or Quarry Bay.

  • If your priority is city energy, food and nightlife, you could stay in Tsim Sha Tsui or Mong Kok and commute, but expect a little more daily friction getting to Hong Kong Shue Yan University.

How We’ll Add the “Study Tour” Feel

This is where the offer becomes more than conference attendance. We position the week around four growth layers:

Learning

The formal conference and workshop content, with CPD recognistion.

Supervision-style reflection

Lightly facilitated check-ins, debrief conversations and peer reflection moments that help people think through application to practice.

Peer Support

Informal meals, walks, coffee meet-ups and a buddying feel for first-time international delegates.

Growth

Time away from routine often sharpens perspective. Delegates are not just attending a program; they are stepping into a broader professional identity conversation.

Optional Delegate Meet-Ups

To keep the week warm, connected and low-pressure, we offer opt-in touch-points for you to join:

Welcome Dinner | Tuesday 26 May

A casual first-night dinner (venue to be advised) for delegates who want an easy arrival and a friendly start.

Harbour Walk + Coffee | Thursday 28 May

A short morning walk before conference sessions begins.

Hong Kong Harbour Night | Friday 29 May

A simple, memorable social outing built around the harbour, ferry crossing and dinner.

Closing Reflection Late-Lunch | Saturday 30 May

A post-conference meal where delegates can reflect on what they learned, what challenged them and what they want to take home.

Optional Sunday Add-On | 31 May

Choose one simple signature experience - the experience we share is subject to numbers:

  • Ngong Ping / Big Buddha day

  • West Kowloon arts and harbour precinct

  • relaxed neighbourhood exploration and markets walk on Lantau Island

Practical Hong Kong Notes

  • Time zone: GMT/UTC +8

  • Power: 220V, UK-style three-pin plug

  • Weather in late May: typically hot and humid with possible showers

  • Language: Cantonese is the main spoken language, with English widely usable in transport, hotels and visitor settings

  • Getting in from the airport: Airport Express and other city connections make airport transfers manageable for international visitors

Getting to the Venue

Hong Kong Shue Yan University is located at:

6 Wai Tsui Crescent, Braemar Hill, North Point, Hong Kong

There is public transport access via buses to Braemar Hill Mansions, followed by a short walk to campus.

For most delegates, the easiest approach will be:

  • stay near an MTR-connected hotel on Hong Kong Island for ease

  • travel by MTR / taxi / bus depending on your base

  • allow a little extra time on the first morning to get comfortable with the route

Who This Is For

This study tour is best for:

  • counsellors

  • coaches

  • psychotherapists

  • supervisors

  • mental health practitioners

  • students and emerging practitioners

  • practice leaders interested in resilience, integrative work and applied growth

It provides delegates with both CPD and the the benefits of travelling while learning alongside peers.

Why Join Through Our Delegate Cohort?

Because going with others changes the experience. You still have freedom. You still choose your own budget and itinerary. But you are not navigating it alone.

You gain:

  • a shared professional anchor

  • familiar people to connect with before departure

  • some social structure without over-scheduling

  • a more meaningful learning arc across the week

  • support for turning attendance into real reflection and application

That is the difference between simply going to a conference and joining a study tour.
